چکیده
Abstract We study the problem of sharing revenues from broadcasting sports leagues among participating clubs. First, we characterize set rules satisfying two basic axioms: anonymity and additivity . Then, decentralize by letting clubs vote for rules. No majority equilibrium exists when they are allowed to any rule within characterized set. However, if is restricted in a meaningful plausible way (just replacing equal treatment equals ), does exist.

Optimal gate revenue sharing in sports leagues
Sports leagues constitute one of the few examples of legally operating cartels. In this paper I examine how gate revenue sharing may serve to coordinate talent investments within these cartels. I show that sharing revenues has the potential to raise cartel profits, because it decreases the incentive to invest in playing talent. Leagues consisting of teams with heterogeneous local markets should...

A revenue sharing contract is one of the mechanisms that coordinate decision makers in a decentralized supply chain toward the consensual goal. The transfer prices between different echelons in the supply chain influence the total supply chain profits. The study aims to explore various transfer pricing heuristics on the supply chain coordination in terms of the supply chain profits and their in...

In live broadcasting, the break lengths available for commercials may not always be fixed and known ex ante (e.g., strategic and injury time-outs are of variable duration in live sport transmissions). Because advertising represents a significant share of the broadcasters’ revenue, broadcasters actively manage that revenue by jointly optimizing their advertising sales and scheduling policies. We...
متن کاملCompetitive Balance and Revenue Sharing in Sports Leagues with Utility-Maximizing Teams
This paper develops a contest model of a professional sports league in which clubs maximize a weighted sum of profits and wins (utility maximization). The model analyzes how more win-orientated behavior of certain clubs affects talent investments, competitive balance and club profits. Moreover, in contrast to traditional models, we show that revenue sharing does not always reduce investment inc...
